The late Dr. Earlene Martin was a native of Dallas, Texas. She was married to Dr. Charles C. Martin, Sr., who is also a native of Dallas, Texas and Senior Pastor of the Union Missionary Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas. They are the proud parents of four adult children, ten grandchildren and one great-grand. 

Dr. Earlene Martin accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the age of four and accepted her Call to preach the Gospel at the age of thirteen. She was a profound and dynamic Gospel Preacher, Bible Teacher, and much sought after workshop leader, and conference speaker. Her unique and powerful ministry reached people of all ages with the life changing Word of God. Her passion was to see lives transformed through the Word of God.

Dr. Earlene Martin was an Ordained Minister of the Gospel, the First Lady and Co-Pastor of the Union Missionary Baptist Church. She was Vice President and Board Member of The Union Community Development Corporation. This corporation serves the community by providing food, clothing, Educational Programs, and Summer Camp Programs. The Union Community Development Corporation was the recipient of the 2005 Governors Volunteer Leadership Award for commitment to bring about positive transformation for individuals, families, and neighborhoods.

She was the C.E.O. of “Vital Impact Haiti,” a non-profit corporation working in partnership with Harmony Ministries of Haiti to improve the quality of life in various communities in Haiti, and was supported by many partners locally and nationally. She and her husband traveled annually to Haiti to minister to the needs of Haitians physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally by helping to supply food, personal needs, and spiritual guidance made possible through financial contributions from the Union Church and the Vital Impact Haiti Partners. They are also financially assisting in the re-building of two churches and schools that were destroyed by the January 2009 earthquake. In partnership with Harmony Ministries, they minister to and help meet the needs of three churches and three schools in Haiti which are located in the areas of Port au Prince, Leogane, and Thomas. 

Dr. Martin was the Founder and Director of the “Maturing, Overcoming Disciples, Discipleship Ministry,” a ministry that has transformed the lives of many women. This ministry has also graduated hundreds of women from across the Racial and Denominational Church Lines and is still ministering to women throughout the City of Dallas and the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.

Dr. Earlene Martin was a graduate from Eastfield College, Mesquite, Texas, with an Associates Degree of Applied Arts and Sciences in Psychology. She received her Certification in Day Care Management from El Centro College, Dallas, Texas. She also attended Gaylan College School of Dentistry and Chester Clinic School of Nursing. She graduated Magna cum Laude from Dallas Baptist University, Dallas, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree in Christian Ministries and Psychology. She was an employee of Dallas County Mental Health and Mental Retardation for many years.

She has served as Superintendent of Sunday school, Bible Study Teacher, Sunday school Teacher, Women’s Ministry Director and Instructor. She has served in numerous roles and positions at the Union Church. She was the Founder and Director of “B. S. S. M.”; Body, Soul, and Spirit Makeover Ministry; a ministry that renews the total person for Physical and Spiritual Health. She was also serving as Co-Pastor with her husband Dr. Charles C. Martin Sr. as well as Minister of Christian Education and Discipleship.  

She was a Life Member of the National Council of Negro Women, Minnie H. Goodlow Page Section. She was the 2003 recipient of the “Minnie H. Goodlow Page Award” in Christian Education and a 2009 recipient of the NCNW “Woman of Distinction Award”. She also chaired the first NCNW “Teen Drug and Obesity Awareness Workshop", in January, 2008. She also served on the Executive Election Committee of the Minnie H. Goodlow Page Section.

Together, Dr. Earlene Martin and her husband Dr. Charles C. Martin Sr. have conducted numerous workshops and seminars nationally and internationally, and have received numerous plaques and awards for outstanding contributions and devoted services to the church and to the community. She and her husband were members of PHIPA, a Pastoral Alliance under the leadership of Bishop T. D. Jakes, and AIM Pastoral Alliance under the leadership of Bishop I. V. Hilliard. They were KINGDOM mentees under the leadership of Dr. Myles Munroe and graduates of the FIRST KINGDOM TRAINING Seminar taught by Dr. Munroe. They were the Founders and Directors of C & E Martin Ministries; a ministry of seminars and workshops designed for strengthening and developing church ministries, communities, and ministering to children, parents, married couples and singles.

Dr. Earlene Martin’s favorite Bible Verse was Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” and, Philippians 2:13, “For it is God who worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. One of her favorite sayings was, “CAN’T is CAN WITH THE 'T' MISSING, therefore; I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME!"
